🛞 Wheels, Axles & Pulleys Focus: How do we make things move and lift more efficiently? Let's Roll! (Wheels & Axles) Focus Question: How do wheels help things move? Materials: Cardboard tube, 2 straws, 4 bottle caps or cardboard circles, scissors, tape. Beginner (5 mins): A World Without Wheels seesaw Activity: "Imagine a world with no wheels! Use the drawing tool to show one thing that would be very difficult to do." Main Activity (35 mins): Recycled Racers🚘 1."Your challenge is to design and build a simple car that can roll in a straight line." Take a photo 2. The cardboard tube is the body of your car. 3. Carefully poke two parallel holes through the tube for your straws (axles). Make sure they are straight! Take a photo 4. Poke a small hole in the centre of your 4 bottle caps (wheels). 5. Push the straws through the tube, and then attach the wheels to the ends of the straws. Use tape to make sure they are secure but can still spin. 6. Give it a push! Does it roll straight? Take a photo Exit Slip (10 mins): 🚘 Racer Reflection🤔 seesaw Activity: "Post a photo and video of your racer. Use the label tool to point to the wheels and the axles. On the microphone🎤, tell us one challenge you had and how you solved it." check
